Until now, Canada's Internet has been an open network -- and a level playing field for free speech, innovation, and free market competition. All that is now under threat.

A handful of companies are threatening to change the way Canada's Internet works. They want to replace the open network Canadians enjoy today with a discriminatory or "gatekeeper network" -- where they decide which content and services get the fastest access to our homes.

These companies have been caught:
- throttling or slowing Internet traffic to businesses and consumers;
- blocking access to web sites that criticized them;
- crippling consumer devices and applications.

This threatens Canada's free speech and economic competitiveness.

Patrick Leahy, who is holding a hearing on March 4 of the Senate Judiciary Committee to discuss a “truth commission” to investigate the crimes of the Bush administration, to support prosecutions for those government officials who violated the law. Sign a letter to Sen. Leahy and the Judiciary Committee calling for them to support prosecutions, and to oppose any immunity for the architects of these torture programs.

Should the crimes, by the Bush/Chaney Administration, be overlooked, then these crimes of high treason will be repeated in future administrations. The Allies conducted the Nürenberg Trials (in 1945 to 1949) for several reasons:
 

A) To make aware that these crimes were actually committed,
B) To examine HOW these crimes were able to be committed,
C) Who committed these crimes and
D) To punish the criminals.


Should the guilty not be punished, then, their Criminal Acts would be absolved and could easily be repeated. There would not be any justice.

Should the Bush/Chaney Administration (alleged) criminals not be prosecuted, not be brought to trial and not found guilty, then, like the Ronald Reagan Republican group, they will be glorified, deified and praised.

With ALL the evidence available: Eyewitnesses, Documents, Dead Bodies, Remnants of Death Camps, Newsreel clips, piles of clothes, piles of shoes, piles of hair, piles of eyeglasses, piles of gold teeth –COLD HARD EVIDENCE-, there are Holocaust Deniers being celebrated, glorified and believed.

So, too, these (alleged) criminals will be praised and glorified for future generations.

We are calling on the Government of Canada to intervene in sale of Canadian-based MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates to US company ATK which derives more than half of its $4 billion US in annual revenue from military contracts, including cluster bombs, depleted uranium rounds and landmines.

We support American-born engineer Paul Cottle's decision to quit for ethical reasons.

We ask Federal Industry Minister Jim Prentice to review the sale, keeping in mind the death and destruction ATK products cause around the world.

We as members of the global community SAY NO TO THIS AQUISITION!

We are proud of the CANADARM and do not want this Canadian icon associated in any way with this company.

Write a letter to your MP and MLA demanding that CAIRS be re-established. It cost $50,000 a year to operate, a small price to pay for government transparency. It provides invaluable information to organizations and researchers allowing them to see what the government has been doing behind closed doors.

The Canadian Federal Government has quietly killed the Co-ordinated Access to Information Requests system. The system had served to make the government more open. With the death of CAIRS, the federal Conservatives have shut the door on transparency and accountability.

We want the government to know how important it is for our democracy that the CAIRS system is maintained and improved. Access to information is absolutely vital to holding our governments accountable and the loss of CAIRS is a step backwards that CANADIANS DO NOT WANT.

Keep Canada strong, accountable, and transparent.
